Us Surgeon General calls for cancer warnings on alcohol.

Alcoholism is common, serious, and expensive. Most doctors in our hospitals encounter alcohol related diseases on a daily basis. Alcohol affects virtually every organ system in the body and, in high doses, can cause coma and death. Excitability caused by long-term alcohol ingestion can lead to brain cell death, alcoholic hallucinosis seeing scary visions, withdrawal seizures fits among many other problems.

Alcohol is a Group 1 Carcinogen. It is a top cause of preventable cancer only being outpaced by smoking and obesity, a report was published, alcohol related deaths for England and Wales was higher than the previous 20 years, up a staggeting 20% from the previous year. 7,423 people, very sadly lost their lives to this poison.

There are no warning labels on alcohol. Moderate alcohol consumption has been linked to 30-50% increased risk of breast cancer. in Canada, alcohol was linked to 7000 new cancer cases. Why don’t we hear this, Because alcohol is a $1.5 TRILLION a year global industry.

This is serious stuff yet society as a whole doesn’t recognise it. Society as a whole is not having this conversation. I hope something changes really soon to save lives. It is the second most addictive substance on the planet, a very close second .

On the global stage, according to a report from the WHO, in the harmful use of alcohol resulted in about 3 million deaths, or 5.3% of all deaths around the world, with most of these occurring among men. Worldwide, alcohol is responsible for a percentage of a number of conditions, as follows :
