
Robert De Niro receiving an honorary Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival on May 13, a culmination for the 81-year-old actor whose history with the French film festival stretches back half a century.
Leonardo DiCaprio presented Robert De Niro with the Honorary Palme d’Or for lifetime achievement. He is regarded as one of the most accomplished and important performers of his time, Robert De Niro has won two Academy Awards and a Golden Globe Award, and he has been nominated for eight BAFTA Awards and four Emmy Awards.
The iconic actor was on hand to accept the festival’s honorary Palme d’Or, which was presented to him by “This Boy’s Life” and “Killers of the Flower Moon” co-star Leonardo DiCaprio.
In his speech, Robert De Niro emphasized the importance of art in defending democracy and voiced concern about the political climate in the U.S.
Quentin Tarantino officially opened the festival, bringing his signature charisma and cinematic flair to the stage and jury members Juliette Binoche, Halle Berry, Jeremy Strong, Payal Kapadia, Alba rorwacher, Leila Soleimani, deudu Hammadi, Hong Sangsu and Carlos rigadas, the cast of the opening film “leave someday”, Eva Longoria and Nadine Nasib Najim.
