Tyler Robinson, a 22 year old man from Utah, is now in custody in connection with Charlie Kirk’s fatal shooting at Utah Valley University. Sources say the shooter confessed to his father a 27 year veteran of the Washington County Sherrifs Department, public records showed.
His father later contacted authorities and secured his son before he could be taken into custody. The New York Times reported that the suspect was taken into custody around 9pm local time in southern Utah on Thursday night. Little is known of Robinson at this time and officials have yet released a motive to the shooting. Investigators are continuing their work, and authorities including Utah officials and the FBI are expected to hold a formal news conference to provide further updates on the case.
