The nominations for the 2025 Oscars 97th are here : Emilia Pérez leading the pack with 13 nods, including Best Picture and a historic Best Actress nomination for Karla Sofía Gascón, the first openly trans actor ever nominated. Wicked follows closely with 10 nominations, celebrating standout performances by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. Despite the challenges posed by recent wildfires in Los Angeles the Academy is moving forward.
The awards ceremony on Sunday March 2 beginning at 7 p.m highlighting resilience and unity in the Hollywood community. Other Best Picture contenders include Dune : Part Two The Brutalist and The Substance.
