Katy Perry and five other women launched into space today aboard Elue Origin’s New Shepard.
The 10-minute flight crossed the Karman line before landing safely in the Texas desert.
The crew included Gayle King, journalist and fiancee of Jeff Bezos Lauren Sanchez, NASA engineer Aisha Bowe, scientist Amanda Nguyen, and film producer Kerianne Flynn.
This was the first all-female space flight since the Soviet astronaut Valentina Tereshkova’s solo flight in 1963. Additionally, it is the eleventh manned mission for Blue Origin, the business founded by Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon.
These six women created a powerful moment for women in space, science, and beyond.
