Timur Khizriev, the featherweight champion of the 2024 PFL season, was injured in a shooting in the Dagestan capital city of Makhachkala.

The incident occurred while Khizriev was unloading his car in a residential courtyard, He was ambushed by two masked assailants and was shot five times. Despite being ambushed, Khizriev defended himself, reportedly knocking one attacker to the ground before escaping on foot. Both suspects fled the scene in a white vehicle, prompting a city-wide manhunt.
He received medical attention soon after the attack, Khizriev is currently hospitalized and is reportedly set to undergo palm surgery. All other bullets have been successfully removed from his body. Fortunately, none of the injuries were life-threatening, and his condition is stable.
Authorities suspect that this was a pre planned assault, and an investigation is ongoing. So far, the attackers’ full identities and motives remain unknown.
