Chinese New Year, or Lunar New Year In Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Japanese culture, today is the beginning of a new year 2025.
Lunar new year each year represented by one of the 12 animals that take it in turns to guide us. This year is the year of the green snake, which signifies mysticism, wisdom enthusiasm and sensitivity. Chinese New Year the most important event of the year in many Asian countries and communities around the planet, 15-day festival that is celebrated annually depending on the sighting of the new moon. The occasion is also known as the Spring Festival, and an animal is associated with each New Year. The animals rotate and repeat according to a fixed cycle. 2025 is the Year of the green Snake.

You might see people wearing red and gold to celebrate. In many families, married people are expected to give out red envelopes filled with money for luck to kids or people who haven’t tied the knot yet. It’s believed these envelopes protect children and bring them luck by warding off evil spirits.
Lunar New Year is Traditionally it’s a time to honor ancestors and deities, with family reunions and street parades, and fireworks to drive off evil spirits. While based on the Chinese lunar calendar, Lunar New Year is also celebrated in Korea, Singapore, Mongolia, Tibet, Vietnam and in Asian communities worldwide.
