China is set to open the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge in June.
Located in China’s Southwest Guizhou province, the Huajiang grand canyon bridge is the world’s highest , with a 625-meter (2,051 feet) above the Beipan River, vertical height from its deck to the water’s surface.
The bridge will surpass the Duge Bridge, found on China’s Guizhou Yunnan border, Its towering height is nearly twice that of the Eiffel Tower and nine times higher than the Golden Gate Bridge. The Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge is also expected to cut travel time across the canyon from about an hour to a mere minute.
Currently, China is home to the majority of the highest bridges in the world, 81 out of the 100 highest.
The Huajiang grand canyon bridge’s completion will not only be an exciting moment for Chinese engineering, as it also symbolizes China’s belief that one doesn’t need to move mountains but rather build bridges for solutions to come about.
This iconic structure will turn Guizhou into a major tourist hotspot and prove once again how far China’s infrastructure has come.
